Iranian Judiciary Reports Arrest of ‘Famous Actor’ on Sexual Assault Charge

iranwire – Iran’s official judiciary media has reported the arrest of a “famous cinema actor” on a sexual assault charge but did not identify the individual.

Some Iranian outlets have claimed, without official confirmation, that the person is Pejman Jamshidi, a former national football team player turned actor.

Mizan, the judiciary’s news agency, reported that a woman filed a complaint at a judicial authority accusing an actor of rape.

Following what Mizan described as “specialized and scientific” investigations, the accused was summoned to the judicial authority, charged, and subsequently arrested.

The official statement did not name the arrested person.

Several domestic media outlets claimed, without citing official sources, that the actor is Jamshidi, known for his work in cinema and television.

The Bamdad-e-No news channel reported that the individual was transferred to Ward 3 of Qezelhesar Prison, a section typically used to hold those accused of murder and rape.

No judicial official or government agency has confirmed these claims.

The head of Tehran Police’s Information Center said the suspect was summoned and arrested at the judicial authority’s location.

He clarified that no arrest operation was carried out by police detectives or other law enforcement units.

Jamshidi played professional football before becoming an actor.
