Iranwire – An advocacy group displayed the wreckage of an Iranian-made drone at the British Parliament on Tuesday, marking the first public exhibition of such a weapon in Europe.
United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) organized the display of the Shahed-136 drone in cooperation with the Speaker of the House of Commons.
The organization said the drone had been previously shot down in Ukraine.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski attended the event alongside British lawmakers, including Tom Tugendhat.
Sikorski urged European countries to maintain consistent support for Ukraine, saying that providing Kyiv with long-range weapons and air defense systems helps safeguard Europe.
United Against Nuclear Iran said new international sanctions against Tehran, including the restoration of U.N. Security Council sanctions, could help counter Iran’s weapons proliferation.
The organization said that it would release further details about the display.
According to Western officials, Iran has supplied Russia with drones during its war in Ukraine.
The exhibition comes just weeks after Russian drones violated Polish airspace and amid repeated sightings of unidentified drones across NATO skies.
Relatively cheap, lethal, and easily mass-produced, the Shahed-136 has become Russia’s weapon of choice against Ukraine.
Since the start of the year, Russia has launched more than 38,000 Shahed drones, wreaking havoc on the battlefield and devastating civilian targets.
