Iranwire – Political prisoners at Qezvin Prison have had their phone access restricted to two hours per day, reportedly without the prison director’s knowledge, according to information obtained by IranWire.
15 political prisoners held in the prison’s political ward are now allowed to make phone calls to family members only during specified times, following orders from the prison’s security team.
Prison regulations and Iranian judicial law guarantee inmates the right to maintain phone contact with their families.
Article 41 of the Prison Organization’s executive regulations lists possible inmate punishments but does not include restrictions or deprivation of phone access.
Political prisoners in Ward 15 of Qezvin Prison are demanding that these restrictions be lifted. They have announced that they will launch a collective strike if the limitations are not removed within three days.
