Iranwire – Ten prisoners convicted of drug-related offenses were transferred on Monday to solitary confinement cells at Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj ahead of their executions.
The prisoners were previously arrested on drug charges and sentenced to death by Revolutionary Courts, according to HRANA.
Iran executed at least 187 prisoners in September — a 140 percent increase from the same month last year and the highest monthly total in two decades.
The executions included three political prisoners and two prisoners of conscience, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, which compiled the data.
The organization confirmed the identities of 181 executed prisoners, while six cases remain under verification.
Among those executed were political prisoners Mehran Bahramian from Semirom, Babak Shahbazi from Karaj, and Bahman Choobi Asl.
At least six women were executed in prisons in Shiraz, Isfahan, Tabriz, Qazvin, Zanjan, and Sabzevar.
Amnesty International said Iran executed more than 1,000 people in the first nine months of 2025.
