Iran Detains Baha’i Mother and Son After Home Raid

Iranwire – Two Baha’i residents of Isfahan have been detained and interrogated by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence following a raid on their home, according to human rights sources.

Elham Siyyadat and her son, Arman Bahrami, were held for several hours on Tuesday at the Intelligence Office in Isfahan after being summoned by authorities.

Their detention came after intelligence agents raided their home on May 28 and issued written summonses to both individuals.

During the raid, agents confiscated personal belongings, including cash, jewelry, internet equipment, and official documents. They also reportedly damaged furniture and other household items.

Authorities warned the family not to speak publicly about the incident and threatened further legal action if they did, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported.

This is not the first instance of harassment against Arman Bahrami, who has previously been summoned for questioning on multiple occasions.

According to the rights organization, he was dismissed from his job in March 2025 due to his affiliation with the Baha’i faith.

Baha’is in Iran have long faced persecution for their religious beliefs and are often accused of espionage or acting against the state.

The Baha’i International Community maintains that no credible evidence has ever been presented to support these claims.

Over the past two years, the Iranian government has intensified its crackdown on members of the Baha’i faith, imprisoning dozens on spurious charges, denying them access to higher education and employment, and confiscating or destroying their properties.

In its latest annual report, Human Rights Watch described the repression of Baha’is and the systematic denial of their basic rights as a crime against humanity.
