Iranwire – Former Iranian wrestling champion Masumeh Soleimani has been summoned to court on charges of encouraging women to appear in public without the mandatory hijab.

Soleimani, a 2010 world championship bronze medalist and international referee, must appear before investigators in Khorramabad on May 21, according to a video posted on her Instagram.
“I reject this false accusation,” said Soleimani, who is the mother of a 10-month-old child.
This marks her latest encounter with authorities after a November 2023 conviction for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”
That case stemmed from photos she posted at the grave of Nika Shakarami, a teenager killed during the 2022 nationwide protests.
Security forces previously arrested Soleimani during the 2019 fuel price protests and again in 2024 while she was pregnant.
“Is the problem in our society women with voluntary hijab?” Soleimani asked in her video appeal for public support.
