Iranwire – An Iranian appeals court has upheld a two-year prison sentence for environmental activist Arman Shadivand.

The Ilam Province Court of Appeals confirmed Shadivand’s conviction on May 19, according to HRANA website.
He was sentenced to eight months for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic” and sixteen months for “insulting the Supreme Leader.”
Branch 2 of Ilam’s Revolutionary Court had originally handed down the same sentence.
Following an indictment issued by the Darreh Shahr Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutors split Shadivand’s case between the Revolutionary and Criminal Courts. He attended one court session.
Authorities arrested Shadivand in November last year after he responded to a summons from the Darreh Shahr Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.
He was released on bail the following day from Mahpareh Prison.
