Political Activist Fatemeh Sepehri Transferred from Prison to Hospital

Iranwire – Political prisoner Fatemeh Sepehri has been moved from Vakil Abad prison to a medical facility in Mashhad due to health problems.

Her brother, Ali Sepehri, said she was taken to Shariati Hospital after experiencing low blood pressure, chest pain, and heart palpitations.

He added that she had previously been transferred briefly for cardiac tests.

Sepehri and her brother Mohammad Hossein each received sentences of three years and nine months for publishing a letter from prison.

The sentence was issued by Branch 5 of Mashhad’s Revolutionary Court.

She faces additional charges, including “cooperation with hostile states,” “assembly and collusion,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”

Under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 10 years of these sentences are enforceable.

Sepehri had previously signed an open letter calling for the Supreme Leader’s resignation, resulting in a five-year sentence later reduced to three and a half years and temporarily suspended.

Concerns about her health have increased following her recent medical issues.
