Iranwire – Political prisoner Reza Rezaei was flogged 74 times in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison on Wednesday, according to fellow inmate Mehdi Mahmoudian.

Rezaei, who has physical disabilities in both legs and suffers from severe epilepsy, was immediately placed in isolation following the flogging due to the severity of his injuries.
The 30-year-old has been imprisoned since July 2023 and is serving a five-year sentence. He was arrested alongside Hossein Jafar and Yasin Mokhtari.
The Revolutionary Court sentenced all three to three years and nine months in prison, three years of exile in designated towns, and 74 lashes.
They were convicted on charges including “destruction of public property” and “membership in opposition groups.”
According to Mahmoudian’s report published on Telegram, prison officials have prevented Rezaei from returning to the general ward and have denied him access to medical care.
