Eleven Workers Still Missing Ten Days After Iran Port Explosion

Iranwire – Eleven workers remain missing ten days after an explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Bandar Abbas.

Government officials said rescue operations have ended, but families continue to wait for news about their loved ones.

Esmail Hajizadeh, Executive Secretary of the Workers’ House of Hormozgan Province, told the ILNA news agency that no trace of the eleven workers has been found.

According to Hajizadeh, the missing people include day laborers, contractors, and cargo drivers who were at the site during the incident.

He added that all the missing workers are Iranian nationals.

Despite the port returning to normal operations, victims’ families remain in a state of uncertainty. Official confirmation of death is required before families can receive compensation or insurance benefits.

Some sources report that several workers who died in the disaster were not officially registered with companies.

They include seasonal workers and those without proper identification documents.

Although authorities have promised compensation for damaged vehicles and unemployment insurance for some injured workers, eleven families still await information about their missing relatives.

“Under-the-fence” workers, as they are locally known, often enter the port illegally through unofficial routes.

These workers typically perform loading tasks for minimal pay and are not included in official records.
