Iranwire – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military action if Tehran refuses to engage in nuclear negotiations.
“What [Trump] did to Zelensky is truly shameful,” Pezeshkian said, referring to an Oval Office confrontation between Trump and the Ukrainian president last month.
He added: “It is unacceptable to say, ‘We give orders to do this or not to do that.’ I will not come to [negotiate] with you. Do whatever the hell you want.”
Tehran has dismissed Trump’s calls for a new nuclear agreement, with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei forbidding such talks.
Khamenei also criticized the European signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), stating: “Three European countries issue statements claiming that Iran hasn’t fulfilled its nuclear commitments under the JCPOA! Someone from this side should ask them, have you fulfilled yours?”
He added: “The Europeans didn’t adhere to their commitments from the very first day. After the U.S. withdrew, they promised to compensate in some way. They broke their promise. Then they made another promise and broke that one too. Truly, there’s a limit to how shameless one can be.”
Khamenei called for a firm stance against what he characterized as “coercion and bullying.”
