Iran-HRM – Political prisoner Ebrahim Khalil Sediqi Hamedani, 67, has been enduring inhumane conditions in Khoy Prison for seven years, deprived of basic medical care. According to informed sources, this political prisoner, who suffers from diabetes, has had one of his toes amputated due to a lack of proper medical attention and is currently in critical health.

Reports indicate that Ebrahim Khalil Sediqi Hamedani has not only been denied adequate medical treatment but has also lost the minimal facilities he previously had in prison. Despite promises of being transferred to Urmia Prison, he remains in Khoy Prison under severe pressure, including being forced to sleep on the floor and being housed with violent criminals. According to sources, these actions were carried out under orders from the prison warden and in coordination with security agencies.
Background and Arrest History
Ebrahim Khalil Sediqi Hamedani, a businessman from Urmia, was first arrested in 2005 on charges of collaborating with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and sentenced to six years in prison. After serving two years, he was granted conditional release. However, on February 23, 2019, he was rearrested along with his two children by security forces in Urmia.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison for “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization,” one year for “propaganda against the regime,” and three years for “filming military centers,” totaling 19 years in prison. In December 2021, he and his son Salar Sediqi Hamedani were transferred to prisons in Marivan and Kamyaran, and later, he was exiled to Khoy Prison while his son was moved to Salmas Prison, separating them.
Deteriorating Health and Urgent Call for Medical Attention
Ebrahim Khalil Sediqi Hamedani’s health has severely deteriorated due to a lack of insulin and necessary medical treatment, putting his life in grave danger. Previous reports indicate that an infection caused by untreated diabetes, exacerbated by the lack of insulin, led to the amputation of one of his toes.
This political prisoner has repeatedly gone on hunger strikes to protest his inhumane conditions and demand the return of his son, yet authorities have taken no action to address his situation.
