Iranwire – A 30-year-old woman was murdered by her husband on Monday in northern Golestan province after attempting to leave an abusive marriage, IranWire reports.

Fatemeh Badali, a mother of two young children, was attacked when she returned to collect essential belongings from the marital home.
Her husband struck her with an axe before delivering a fatal blow to her head with a brick, in front of their children, before fleeing the scene.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
Sources close to Badali described her as a “hardworking and kind woman” who endured years of domestic violence while supporting her children.
She had recently moved to her parents’ home and initiated divorce proceedings.
According to IranWire’s investigations, at least 136 women have been killed by family members since March 2024.
The Iran Human Rights Organization reported in January that while official statistics on family-related murders are unavailable, such incidents are on the rise.
