Iranwire – A family of four was found dead in East Azerbaijan province following a murder-suicide on Sunday, local police officials reported.
Colonel Bahram Amir-Farhoudi, Deputy Police Commander of Bonab, told Iranian media that a 51-year-old man killed his 44-year-old wife, 15-year-old daughter, and 11-year-old son before taking his own life.
According to police investigations, the murders were reportedly the result of “family disputes.”
“Following reports of multiple family members’ deaths in one of Bonab’s neighborhoods, the case was immediately prioritized by police detectives,” Amir-Farhoudi said.
He added that the father died by suicide on a city street after committing the murders.
This incident comes amid growing concerns over the rising cases of domestic violence in Iran.
On Saturday, Isfahan police announced the arrest of two suspects in another family violence case involving the murder of a seven-year-old girl who went missing last year.
According to Isfahan’s Deputy Police Commander, the child’s mother and uncle confessed to the murder after their arrest.
