Iranwire – Vafa Ahmadpour, known by his stage name “Vafadar,” has begun serving a new nine-month sentence with an electronic ankle monitor after previously spending nine months in Adelabad and Evin prisons.

The protest movement supporter announced on Instagram this Sunday that his new sentence had begun.
Ahmadpour said his crime was visiting the graves of the victims of the crackdown on protests.
“This ankle monitor may be attached to my leg, but my voice, my faith, and my love for you and freedom will never be limited. This device connects me to history and my people, not to prison,” Ahmadpour wrote in his social media post.
He reflected on the weight of the moment when the ankle monitor was installed, stating that the heaviness he felt was not for himself but for all those suffering similar pressures in silence.
Ahmadpour was arrested in April 2024 along with Danial Moghaddam following the release of their protest song “Stand Ready,” which was recorded at Persepolis in Shiraz.
Both artists were initially transferred to the central detention facility at Adelabad Prison. Ahmadpour was eventually released from Evin Prison on January 19.
