Iranwire – Two Kurdish environmental activists, Hiwa Amini and Rahman Rahimpour, were arrested on Thursday in western Saqqez as part of an ongoing wave of detentions in the country’s western provinces.

Ministry of Intelligence agents detained both men without a judicial warrant and transferred them to an undisclosed location.
Amini, a long-time environmental activist and member of the Friends of Zagros and Kojin Saqqez associations, is a resident of Saqqez.
Rahimpour, also a Saqqez resident and father of a young child, is a former political prisoner and member of the Kojin Saqqez association.
Plainclothes agents raided his home, arrested him, and subsequently searched the premises, seizing his wife’s mobile phone, his child’s tablet, and other family belongings.
This arrest is part of a broader pattern of detentions targeting Kurdish citizens in Kurdistan and West Azerbaijan provinces.
