Iranian Activist Returns to Prison with Torture Marks

Iranwire – Mohammad Davari, a prominent labor activist, has been returned to Shiraz’s Adilabad Prison, showing visible signs of torture following a 17-day detention at the Intelligence Ministry’s “Block 100” facility, according to his attorney, Fereshteh Tabanian.

Tabanian reported that forensic medical examinations confirmed bruising on Davari’s ribs and chest, along with multiple leg wounds.

The 30-year-old activist was held incommunicado at Block 100 starting December 22, where he went on a hunger strike to protest his treatment and conditions.

The severity of the situation led the Chief Justice of Fars Province to intervene personally.

He met with Davari and ordered both an investigation and a forensic examination.

Tabanian confirmed that complaints have been filed against three Block 100 officers for torture, and the case is currently under review.

Davari was previously placed in the prison’s Ershad Ward, where he was denied basic necessities, including blankets and hygiene products.

As a result, he developed severe skin conditions from insect bites.

A civil engineering graduate and current political science student, Davari began serving a three-year sentence in April 2024 at Adelabad Prison.

The Shiraz Revolutionary Court’s verdict also imposed a travel ban, restrictions on his online activities, and forced residency in Bardsir, Kerman, for two years.

Sources familiar with his case report that Davari suffers from severe chest pain and numbness in his right hand, but prison officials have denied him medical treatment.

He has been arrested multiple times and sentenced on charges related to his labor and civil activism.
