Iranwire – Court of Appeals in Kurdistan province has reduced the prison sentence of a Kurdish civil activist from 10 to five years.

During the preliminary trial, Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court sentenced Sarveh Pourmohammadi to 10 years in prison.
However, the new ruling by a branch of the Kurdistan Court of Appeals reduced her sentence to five years on charges of “forming groups with the intention of disrupting national security.”
A member of the cultural and social association Nojeen, Pourmohammadi was arrested by security forces on January 29, 2023.
She was released on bail after spending 16 days in custody.
