Iranwire – Iranian security forces have detained Kurdish artist and singer Omid Ahmadnejad and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
The 35-year-old was reportedly taken from his home in the Kurdish town of Mahabad on Tuesday morning by Intelligence Department forces.
Witnesses said the arrest was carried out violently, and Ahmadnejad’s current whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities have not disclosed any charges or reasons for his detention.
The singer’s arrest comes amid a broader crackdown in Mahabad.
On the same day, security forces also apprehended 16-year-old Ramyar Abubakri, brother of Zaniar Abubakri, a victim of the crackdown on the 2022 nationwide protests in Mahabad, and Siavash Soltani, son of Kobra Sheikheh – another victim of the crackdown.
Additionally, 23-year-old Adel Kakeh was taken into custody by Intelligence Department agents.
Like the others, Kakeh’s location and the grounds for his arrest also remain undisclosed.
