Held Without Trial, Political Prisoner Denied Medical Care in Iran

Iranwire – Iranian authorities have denied medical treatment to a prisoner with severe health problems.

Masoud Jamaei, a political detainee held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz for over 13 months without a clear resolution to his case, is reportedly suffering from severe health issues and has been denied adequate medical care.

According to the HRANA human rights website, Jamaei is battling stomach and liver cancer, as well as high blood pressure.

Despite his critical condition, Jamaei has been deprived of specialized medical care and has not been transferred to any medical facilities for treatment.

Jamaei was previously charged by the prosecutor’s office with “corruption on Earth,” “membership in anti-Islamic Republic groups,” and “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security.”

However, despite these serious allegations, no court has convened to hear his case.

Jamaei, 47, a resident of Ahvaz, was arrested by security forces from his locality on August 1, 2023.
