IRGC Official Dismisses Infiltration Claims in Haniyeh Assassination

Iranwire – A senior official from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force has refuted claims of infiltration in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political office.

This statement contradicts recent Western media reports suggesting the involvement of compromised Iranian security forces in the murder.

The deputy intelligence officer of the Quds Force, speaking at a parliament meeting, emphatically stated, “The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was not the result of infiltration.”

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, confirmed that a closed-door session was held to investigate various aspects of Haniyeh’s assassination.

High-ranking officials from the Quds Force, Ministry of Intelligence, and IRGC attended the meeting, although specific details of the discussions were not made public.

The IRGC’s latest announcement claims that Haniyeh was killed by “a short-range projectile with a warhead of about seven kilograms, accompanied by a strong explosion, from outside the accommodation area of the guests.”

This account differs from reports in the Western media, such as the New York Times and Telegraph, which suggested a bombing of Haniyeh’s residence.

The British newspaper Telegraph had reported on August 2 that Israel’s Mossad had collaborated with infiltrators within the IRGC to plant explosives at Haniyeh’s Tehran residence.

Similarly, the New York Times cited Iranian sources who claimed the arrest of over 20 individuals, including senior intelligence officers and military officials, in connection with the assassination.
