Iranwire – Iranian border forces have shot and injured a young kolbar in western Kurdistan.
The incident happened on Tuesday at the “Do Palureh” border in the Marivan district.
The injured kolbar has been identified as Yasin Rastkhaneh, a 22-year-old resident of Do Palureh village.
According to sources close to the Hengaw human rights organization, Rastkhaneh sustained leg injuries from the direct fire.
He was subsequently transported to Bo Ali Sina Hospital in Marivan for medical treatment. Rastkhaneh’s current condition is unknown.
Kolbars carry goods across the mountainous borders between Iran, Iraq, and Turkey, often due to lack of alternative employment in the economically challenged border regions of Iranian Kurdistan.
They frequently face dangerous conditions, including harsh weather and the risk of violence from border security forces, during their work.
