Iranwire – An Iranian court has sentenced the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association spokesperson to six months and one day in prison, marking the latest in a series of legal actions against the prominent education activist.

Mohammad Habibi, the activist in question, was found guilty of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic” by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court.
The verdict was issued on July 21, following a court session held on June 29 to address the charges against him.
This recent sentence stems from Habibi’s arrest on April 5, 2023, when security agents detained him at his workplace in Tehran.
His arrest was reportedly linked to protest posts he made regarding the serial poisoning attacks on schools across Iran, according to the HRANA human rights organization.
Habibi was released on bail from Evin Prison’s Ward 209 on May 20, 2023.
In October 2022, he received a separate sentence from the Tehran Revolutionary Court, including three years and seven months in prison for “assembly and collusion against national security,” one year for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” and additional restrictions on his activities and travel.
