Iranwire – Iran’s Guardian Council has officially validated the outcome of the country’s presidential election.
The council’s spokesperson, Hadi Tahan Nazif confirmed that it has approved the election results.
This decision has been formally communicated to the Ministry of Interior, which oversaw the electoral process.
The presidential election, held on July 5, saw moderate candidate Masoud Pezeshkian emerge as the victor.
Pezeshkian is now set to become Iran’s next president, succeeding Ebrahim Raisi’s administration.
Nazif also addressed the next steps in the transition of power.
He said that following the issuance of credentials, an inauguration ceremony for the new president will take place.
The exact date and details of this ceremony are yet to be announced and will be determined by the office of Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
