Niloofar Hamedi was arrested in a raid on the couple’s home September 22 by Ministry of Information agents, who ransacked the property and confiscated their laptops and mobile phones.

She was one of the first journalists to write about Mahsa Amini’s hospitalization after she fell into a coma at the hands of morality police. The September 16 death of Amini in custody sparked the current wave of nationwide protests.

“Niloofar Hamedi likes writing letters very much,” her husband Mohammad Hossein Ajorlo tweeted on December 25.

“During her days of detention, she asked me to write her letters so she can read them after her release. If you like, write a letter to her,” he added, giving the address of Hamedi’s workplace.

He also said that the journalist has started practicing yoga in prison.

Earlier this month, Ajorlo said his wife had been transferred from Tehran’s Evin prison to Qarchak prison.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Ministry of Intelligence published a joint statement in late October accusing Hamedi and another journalist, Elaheh Mohammadi, of planning to orchestrate widespread protests with their reporting as agents of foreign intelligence agencies.

More than 60 journalists have been detained since the anti-government demonstrations erupted across Iran following Amini’s death. Some of them have been released. Others have been summoned, threatened and had their electronic equipment seized.
