Four Sentenced To Death In Iran For “Cooperating” With Israeli Intelligence

Iranwire – Iran says it has sentenced four people to death for allegedly “cooperating” with the Israeli intelligence service, local media report.

“This network of thugs was stealing and destroying private and public property, kidnapping people, and obtaining fake confessions”, the judiciary said on November 30.

It said the suspects were arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Ministry of Intelligence.

Separately, three people were handed prison sentences of between five and 10 years for allegedly committing crimes such as acting against national security, aiding in abductions, and possessing illegal weapons, the judiciary said.

All the verdicts and sentences are final.

The Islamic Republic has long accused arch-enemy Israel of carrying out covert operations on its soil.

Iranian officials have accused Israeli and Western intelligence services of plotting a civil war in the country, which has been gripped by nationwide protests for more than two months.
