Anonymous Knocks Out Ali Khamenei’s Official Website

Iranwire – The Anonymous hacktivist collective claims to have taken down the official website of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Anonymous launched a campaign against Iranian state digital infrastructure yesterday in a bid to support ongoing pro-democracy protests in the country sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini.

At the time of writing, Khamenei.ir was still down. Sharing screengrabs of unresponsibe webpages, Anonymous also reported having targeted the main government information portal, dolat.ir, the president’s website president.ir, and the websites of the Central Bank, Ministry of Culture and Forensic Medicine Organization.

The website of the IRGC’s Fars News Agency was also taken over to display the Anonymous logo and the words “Long Live Iran People! Fuck Fake Media”.

Late on Friday the group also claimed to have hijacked some 1,000 CCTV cameras across the country. Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, it claimed, had limited access to its website to Iranian IP addresses only in a bid to protect itself.

The group, which also attacked Russian government websites after the invasion of Ukraine, posted a message on Twitter for Iranian readers today: “We will win this revolution. With love.”
