Activist Medics Erect Billboard of Narges Mohammadi on Vienna Highway

Iranwire – A billboard featuring Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has been erected over a highway in Vienna. The Austrian website APA writes it was installed by “a group of doctors and medical staff defending human rights”.

The poster is located on the A23 and the exit of the Landstrasse, near the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It comes after regime agents beat and arrested Mohammadi along with several other activists in July for taking part in a rally in Tehran’s Fatemi Square in support of the protests in Khuzestan.

Mohammadi is a veteran agitator for human rights in Iran who has been repeatedly arrested, tortured and imprisoned on spurious charges such as “propaganda against the regime”, “conspiracy against the Islamic Republic” and “insulting the leadership”. She recently spoke about the physical and sexual abuse she had suffered at the hands of prison guards.

In recent years, the Austrian Medical Association and medical staff have been trying to bring blatant human rights violations committed by the Islamic Republic to the attention of Austrian politicians.
