Prisoner Omran Hariri Transferred for Execution in Qom

Iran Human Rights (IHR) – A prisoner sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, has been transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in Qom Central Prison.

According to Iran Human Rights, a male prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution this afternoon in Qom Central Prison. The prisoner who was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder) has been identified as Omran Hariri.

An informed source told IHR: “Omran was convicted of murder due to financial disputes in 2018 and had his last visit with his family this afternoon before being transferred to solitary and his sentence will probably be carried out on Thursday morning.”

As there are no legal distinctions made between murder and manslaughter, whether voluntary or involuntary in Iran, those charged under the umbrella term of “premeditated murder” will receive the death penalty regardless of intent and the circumstances.
