According to Iran Human Rights, Arsham Rezaee and his nephew, Vahid Rezaee were arrested by security forces at Arsham’s house on Tuesday, November 17, and transferred to an unknown location.

Informed sources told IHR: “Five days after their arrest, Arsham Rezaee and Vahid Rezaee had no contact with their family until we found out that Arsham had been transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison and is currently being held in quarantine.”

Arsham Rezaee was first arrested on 7 January 2019 by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence forces during the nationwide protests and transferred to the IRGC’s security Ward 2A of Evin Prison.

After enduring two weeks of interrogations in solitary confinement, he was transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison. On 26 February 2019, Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran presided over by Judge Moghiseh, sentenced him to eight years and six months imprisonment on charges of “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security, propaganda against the system, insulting the leadership and being in possession of alcoholic beverages” which was upheld on appeal.

Arsham was released on a bail of 200 million Tomans on 13 November 2019 until being arrested again last week.

One of the charges against Arsham which led to his conviction was visiting the families of political prisoners.
