Soheil Arabi is in Political Prisoners’ Ward of Rajaishahr Prison

Iran-HRM – Soheil Arabi has been transferred to Hall No. 10 of Ward 4, the political prisoners’ ward of Rajaishahr Prison in Karaj.

Political prisoner Soheil Arabi was sent to the political prisoners’ ward on Monday, November 16, 2020. He was previously being interrogated in Ward 2A of Evin Prison run by the IRGC Intelligence. He had been sent to Rajaishahr on Sunday, November 8, but had been detained in the quarantine ward since then.

Soheil Arabi was serving his sentence in the Great Tehran Penitentiary, also known as Fashafouyeh Prison. On September 18, he was first summoned to the office of Charmahali, the GTP warden, and then abruptly moved out of GTP to an unknown location.

After persistent enquiries of his family, they found out that he had been taken to the quarantine ward of Rajaishahr Prison in Karaj, which is also known as “Suites.”

After one month of being held incommunicado, Soheil Arabi called his family on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, and told them he had been taken to Ward 2A of Evin.

The IRGC Intelligence has filed a new case against political prisoner Soheil Arabi accusing him of disseminating propaganda against the state because he sent out an audio recording exposing the abysmal and inhuman conditions in the Great Tehran Penitentiary.

While in GTP, Soheil Arabi was repeatedly harassed, intimidated, attacked and tortured by prison authorities or their hirelings. In one such incident, he suffered a broken nose and a trauma in the testicles. He has difficulty breathing since then but never received any treatment.

Amnesty International issued an urgent action on October 17 calling for unconditional and immediate release of Soheil Arabi. Amnesty International also urged access to medical treatment and legal presentation for this political prisoner, and called for end to his torture and mistreatment.
