Radiofarda – In a statement on Saturday, September 12, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps condemned the establishment of relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and warned the Persian Gulf kingdom to await “appropriate responses.”
The military organization went further and threatened the tiny island with Quds (Jerusalem) Mujahidin’s “tough vengeance.”
The IRGC has continually expressed concern over the deal, calling it the “opening the gates of entry and influence” in the Persian Gulf’s strategic region and the Sea of Oman for Israel.
“The shameful move by the Al Khalifa [the kingdom’s royal dynasty] and the Bahrain ruling regime to establish relations with the Zionist {Israel], is against the will and desire of the Muslim people of this country,” the statement read. “It amounts to sheer folly and lacks any legitimacy, and they will receive proportionate responses.”
On Friday evening on September 11, US President Donald Trump announced the normalization of relations between Bahrain and Israel, calling it a “historic” agreement for peace in the region. The normalization of Israeli-UAE relations was the first of its kind between an Arab state and Israel in more than twenty years.
“You’ll be hearing other countries coming in over a relatively short period of time. And you could have peace in the Middle East,” he said.
“I think what ultimately will happen is you’re going to have quite a few countries come in. The big ones are going to be coming in. I spoke to the king of Saudi Arabia, so we’re talking. We just started the dialogue. And you’ll have them come in,” he added.
The White House has set a date of September 15 for the official signing of the Israeli-UAE agreement.
“Next week at the White House we’ll be having a signing between the UAE and Israel, and we could have another country added into that,” Trump told a White House news conference on September 10.. “And I will tell you that countries are lining up that want to go into it.”
In response, the Islamic Republic Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly condemned Bahrain’s normalization with Israel. The Iranian Foreign Ministry accused Bahrain of “sacrificing” the Palestinian people’s aspirations for the next US presidential election.
On Sunday, Zia-Uddin Aqajanpour, the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic’s ideological-political organization, also threatened the UAE for normalizing their relations with Israel.
The state-run Iran Students News Agency (ISNA) cited Zia-Uddin Aqajanpour as calling the UAE as “compromisers and traitors” who should expect Iranian militias’ revenge.
“We warn the compromisers and traitors to await the anger and revenge of the Islamic Ummah and the resistance groups,” Aqajanpour warned in a message.
