Britain, France, Germany Offer Iran 5 Million Euro Package To Combat Coronavirus

Radiofarda – A joint statement published by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for International Development (DID) on Monday says Britain, France and Germany are offering Iran a comprehensive package of material and financial support to combat the rapid spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

“France, Germany and the United Kingdom express their full solidarity with all impacted by COVID-19 in Iran,” the statement said and added that the material support will be transported urgently by plane on the same day (March 2).

According to the statement of the FCO and DID, the material to be sent to Iran includes equipment for laboratory tests, as well as other equipment, including protective body suits and gloves.

“The E3 has also committed to providing urgent additional financial support close to €5 million to fight the COVID-19 epidemic affecting Iran, through the WHO or other UN agencies,” the statement which said the three countries’ support is directed to help “the most vulnerable across the globe” added.

Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raeesi on Monday said 1,501 Iranians have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) and at least 66 have died until Monday morning March 2.

More than a dozen countries including Canada, the United States, Australia, and Germany as well as Lebanon and countries of the Persian Gulf have reported coronavirus cases that originated in Iran.
