Iran Executions: At Least Four People Hanged in Zahedan

Iran Human Right (IHR) – At least four people were hanged in Zahedan city, capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province, on February 4 and 5, 2020.

According to a news piece published by HRANA and confirmed by IHR sources, at least four prisoners were hanged on Tuesday, February 4, and Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Zahedan prison. They were reportedly sentenced to death for murder charges.

One of the executed prisoners is identified as Akbar Lakzehi. 

In 2019, most of the executions in Iran were carried out for murder charges. 

According to the Iranian Islamic Penal Code (IPC) murder is punishable by qisas which means “retribution in kind” or retaliation.
