Iranian Drone Crashes In Oil-Rich Province

Radiofarda – An Iranian military-type drone has crashed in the southwest of the country on Tuesday, near the town of Mollasani in the oil-rich Khuzestan province.

There are no reports of collateral damage on the ground according to the local governor and the cause of the incident is not clear.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency close to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) says the drone was a Shahed 129 and there is some damage to the body of the aircraft.

The Shahed 129 drone was unveiled in 2014 by the former IRGC commander Aziz Jafari. In recent years, Iran has made notable progress in manufacturing large drones for military use.

This type of drone reportedly has a range 1,700-1,800 kilometers (1,100 miles) and can fly at a maximum altitude of 24,000 feet.
