Khamenei Orders Additional 200m Euros To Qods Force In Next Two Months

Radiofarda – Iran’s parliament speaker told lawmakers on January 7 that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei last night authorized the allocation of 200 million euros of additional budget to the Qods Force in the next two months, to counter U.S. threats.

Ali Larijani made the remarks before a triple-urgency bill called “Counter-Measures Against U.S.” was put to vote.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and its Qods force receive their regular budget from the state and Khamenei’s order to allocate more money is an symbolic step amid high tensions with the United States.

The money will be allocated to the Qods (Quds) Force from the National Development Fund coffers to counter U.S. measures against Iran, Larijani said.

The “Counter-Measures Against U.S.” bill was approved by 229 to 3 votes and final its ratification was deferred to the Guardian Council.

Article 1 of the bill designates U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and affiliated entities as terrorist organizations.

Jurists of the Guardian Council were present in parliament to discuss the triple-urgent bill and are now reviewing it before final ratification. The Council is expected to urgently endorse it.

Iran has vowed a harsh revenge for the death of Soleimani, who was the architect of Iran’s extensive network of proxies in the Middle east and beyond.

Tensions are very high between Iran and the United States following the targeted killing of General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), in U.S. drone attack in Baghdad on Friday.
