Pelosi Raises ‘Serious Concern’ Over Killings Of Protesters In Iran

Radiofarda – The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representative Nancy Pelosi has voiced concern at the death of more 100 protesters in Iran, joining other Democrats and Democratic presidential candidates who had already condemned the killings.

Earlier, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, several Democratic presidential candidates and lawmakers had spoken out on violent suppression of protests and the Internet blackout by the Islamic Republic.

“All Iranians should be able to make their voices heard”, tweeted Pelosi “without fear of reprisal.” However, there was no mention of demanding accountability for the killings as some other politicians have mentioned.

President Donald Trump and senior members of his administration have also condemned use of lethal force against protesters and have sanctioned Iran’s Information and Telecommunications minister for shutting down the Internet for over a week.

According to all estimates, between 100-140 protesters have been killed, but information from independent sources in Iran is still scant due to the Internet problems. Thousands have also been arrested.

Reports that more than 100 protestors have been killed by Iranian security forces raise serious concerns. All Iranians should be able to make their voices heard without fear of reprisal. Iran must immediately restore full internet access and allow all to speak out.15.8K3:17 AM – Nov 24, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy5,157 people are talking about this
