Taekwondo Grand Prix: Iran wins 2 medals on day 2

PayvandNews – Armin Hadipour and Sajjad Mardani have won two gold medals for Iran on the second day of the 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 2 in Japan.

Hadipour, who had defeated Adrian Vicente of Spain in the semifinal of the minus 58 kg category, settled for silver after surrendering the decider 22-14 to his South Korean opponent Jang Jun.

Mardani, meanwhile, who was competing in the plus 80 kg division, suffered a 5-4 semifinal defeat to another South Korean practitioner Kyo-Don In. Mir Hashem Hosseini grabbed Iran’s 1st gold medal in the games on Friday.

The tournament, which is held in the city of Chiba with the participation of 32 athletes, will wrap up on Sunday. The 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Prix series 1 was held in Rome and the 3rd series will be held in Sofia in October and the final round is in Moscow.
