According to IHR sources, Kianoosh Sanjari, while in prison, has been sent examined medical experts and forensics to assess his health condition. Forensics have officially reported to the judiciary that he cannot tolerate the imprisonment and must be treated outside the prison. However, security agents interfered to stop his medical furlough.

Kianoosh Sanjari Baf, a human rights activist and blogger who fled the country after his last arrest in 2006, had been working for VOA Persian and human rights organizations abroad. He went back to Iran by his own will to meet his family in 2016. He was arrested upon arrival and later sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment (Five years applicable) by branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Courts.

One of his relatives told IHR, “Despite the forensics confirmation that he cannot tolerate the imprisonment, authorities in the Ministry of Intelligence and the Evin Prison are against the medical furlough issuance for him.”

His family are threatened and warned not to give interviews or talk to media about the condition of Kianoush Sanjari. One of his relatives told IHR that even Kianoush’s lawyer is denied to meet him in prison.
