Al-Arabia – Photographs of officers graduating from a military college in Iran have sparked controversy on social media after an image of a graduate with the Israeli flag painted on the bottom of his shoe went viral.

The photograph drew the Israeli government’s attention, who reposted the image on their official accounts, and said that Iran and Hezbollah were inspired by Nazi Germany.

من أين تعلم النظام الإيراني الفاشي وأفراد الميليشيات الإرهابية الموالية له مثل حزب الله كل شيء؟ من ألمانيا النازية.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, who witnessed the moment the young officer lifted his boot that was marked with the Israeli flag, attacked Israel and countries he called “reactionary.”

In an Arabic tweet, Ofir Gendelman, a spokesperson for the Israeli prime minister to the Arab media, said “Who does the fascist Iranian regime and its terrorist militia like Hezbollah learn from? Nazi Germany.”

In another English tweet, Gendelman said: “This photo was taken yesterday at a graduation ceremony held at Iran’s Revolutionary Guard academy. The source of inspiration is clear.”
