Following an acute abdominal pain and her deteriorated condition, Narges Mohammadi, the imprisoned Iranian human rights activist, transferred to the hospital -after several hours of negligent delay.

IHR strongly condemns this negligence and calls on Iranian authorities to release her immediately and unconditionally.

“Narges Mohammadi has been in prison solely for her peaceful civil activities and her struggle against the death penalty”, says Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson for IHR. “We urge the members of the international community, especially those with good diplomatic relations with Iran, to demand Narges Mohammadi’s immediate release”, he added.

Narges Mohammadi had previously been sentenced to 11 years in prison for her peaceful activities. She suffered from poor health while being in the prison. She was released on bail in July of 2012 and re-arrested in 2015.
