Iran: Prisoner Accused of Murdering a Clergyman Scheduled to Be Executed

Iran Human Rights – Hossein Esmailpour, who was charged with the murder of Fakhri Langaroudi, a prominent clergyman from Guilan Province, is spending his final days in a solitary confinement.

According to a close source, Hossein Esmailpour is charged with the murder of Fakhri Langaroudi, a prominent clergyman from Guilan Province, at the age of 20. He has been transferred to the solitary confinement of Rasht Central Prison since Saturday, June 23, to be executed on Saturday, June 30 unless the plaintiffs give their consent.

Hossein Esmailpour was a student at a religious school. He is convicted of murdering Fakhri Langaroudi with the complicity of two of his friends in September 2014. IHR has received information regarding the intent of the defendants which will be published at a proper time.

Hossein Esmailpour told IHR, “One of the defendants who was charged with complicity to murder was released and the other one is sentenced to life imprisonment.”

Fakhri Langaroudi was an advisor in 2013 elections, the successor to Mohsen Rezaei campaign in Guilan, and the consultant of the secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council in Guilan.

The prisoner’s family were asked to visit him for the last time on Tuesday, June 26.
