Political Prisoner Soheil Arabi Tried In Closed Court

Iran-HRM – Political prisoner Soheil Arabi, held at the Great Tehran Penitentiary, was tried on June 10, by the 28th Branch of the Revolutionary Court headed by joudge Moghilseh.
The political prisoner is facing charges of “issuing statements”, “communicating with foreign media and organizations”, “insulting the supreme leader Ali Khamenei”.
According to the attorney of the political prisoner, the court’s ruling was already set by the judiciary and will be announced after twenty days.
At the same time, Arabi’s wife stood trial and may faces prison on the charge of “joining her husband in the crimes.”
On the order of the warden, Arabi has been transferred to a ward were dangerous criminals are held, in breach of the principle of separation of different categories of prisoners. He has been threatened and harassed by some prisoners incited by the authorities.
Soheil Arabi is suffering from kidney infection and is denied appropriate medical treatment.
He has been unconscious several times due to the severity of pain, yet prison authorities deliberaitly refuse to transfer him to the hospital.
Political prisoner Soheil Arabi, was transferred to the Great Tehran Penitentiary after he protested against the unlawful transfer of Atena Daemi and Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee to the dangerous Shahr-e Rey prison in Varamin outside Tehran.
He started a hunger strike on January 24, 2018, which was switched to dry on March 17, 2018. He was badly beaten by prison authorities during his hunger strike. He suffered heavy blows to the head and was suspected of brain damage.
Upon the request of her mother and mothers of political prisoners of the movement seeking democracy and equality, he stopped his hunger strike after 55 days at the turn of the New Persian Year.
