Bahrain, UAE support Morocco’s decision on severing ties with Iran

Al-Arabia – United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said the UAE supports Morocco’s decision to sever its ties with Tehran after it was proven that it interfered in its internal affairs.

“We stand with Morocco in its concern over its national causes and against Iranian interferences in its domestic affairs. Our orientation in support of Morocco is a historical legacy which was established by Sheikh Zayed and King Hassan, may they rest in peace, and our stance is fixed for better or worse,” he said via Twitter.

Bahrain also voiced its support of Morocco’s decision to cut all diplomatic ties with Iran over its support for the Polisario Front, a Sahara independence movement.

Morocco will close its embassy in Tehran and will expel the Iranian ambassador in Rabat.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said that Iran and its Lebanese Shiite ally Hezbollah were supporting the Polisario by training and arming its fighters.
