Iran: Atena Daemi And Golrokh Iraee Beaten In Qarchak Prison

Iran-HRM – Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee, two civil rights activists detained in Qarchak Prison of Varamin, were beaten by prison guards and were transferred from quarantine to another section in this prison in the morning. The two prisoners stressed that since their transfer to this prison was illegal in the first place, they have to be returned to Evin Prison and refused to go to other sections which is for longer term prisoners.

According to reports, after the two women were transferred to the Mother’s Section, guard forces told them that they had no right to use the phone.

Reports also indicate that Golrokh Iraee is in very poor health. She started a hunger strike on February 3 in protest to being sent to Qarchak Prison. She has lost at least 13 kilos since her strike.
