Due to the arrest of Mr. Nemat Riyahi on 18th of February and the gathering of Gonabadi Dervishes outside of the police office to either get an answer to why this old man with severe heart disease has been arrested, the gathered crowd of Gonabadi Dervishes were attacked by security forces upon nightfall and pushed back the protesting Dervishes to Golestan 7th, were Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, the spiritual headmaster of the Gonabadi Sufi order resides.
During these attacks, many Dervishes has been beaten and many are missing. The home of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh is surrounded by Sepah special forces and gunshots are frequently reported. Sufi Dervishes are still guarding the home of their spiritual master, their situation is however critical as security forces and special forces are increasing in numbers under the protection of tear gas that has filled the streets around Golestan 7th.
Dervishes who have no were else to go chant together in despair turning to God saying, “Oh Lord, save us from this agony”.
