On Saturday evening, February 3rd, 2018, special security forces and civilian armed forces increased security on the street where Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, the Spiritual Headmaster of the Gonabadi Sufi order resides. In response, the dervishes of the Gonabadi order increased in numbers to guard the house as security forces of the Iranian regime have previously caused unauthorized psychological and physical harm to Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh.
This is the second time in the past week when security forces take control of the street, setting up checkpoints for passage and limiting the traffic of people around the home of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh.
These actions of militarizing the Golestan street nr. 7 in the Pasdaran area in Tehran where the Head Master of the Gonabadi Sufi order resides is deeply troubling the Gonabadi Dervishes.
The Gonabadi Dervishes have expressed their worries to the nearest polis stations for the unauthorized behavior of the security forces and the armed civilians associated with these forces. The Dervishes have also contacted city Polis 110 and provided video and footage along with registration numbers of the vehicles belonging to armed civilians circulating the house, but no action has been taken from the city polis and the numbers and the provocation of these armed civilians have only increased.
As the security increased in the area during the first hours of February 4th, 2018 so did the number of Dervishes, gathering in hundreds around the house of Dr. Noor Ali Tabande to prevent an attack by the security forces on his house.
Finally, the house of Dr. Noor Ali Tabande was attacked by the security forces during the early morning of February 4th, 2018 using shock grenades and tear gas. The Dervishes were however successful in defending the house and the security forces retreated. However, the Pasdaran area in Tehran is still militarized as the security forces and civilian polis is increasing in the area.
According to the received reports, an arrest warrant has now been issued after the attack of the security forces by the 3rd branch of national security court where Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh is accused of “Acting against national security”, important to note is that no reason for this accusation is mentioned.
The situation is stable at the moment, but tension is building up as security forces are increasing around the house of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, so are the people of Iran who gather there in defense of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh. Security forces are however closing down connecting streets to the home of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh to prevent people from gathering.
