Mustafa SalimiAccording to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mustafa Salimi, death row political prisoner, has returned to Saqez prison from Sanandaj Central Prison more than three months ago.

A source close to Mustafa Salimi told HRANA’s reporter, “After a period of deportation in Sanandaj, Mustafa who has returned to Saghez prison more than three months ago, is not allowed to work in the prison workshop. This is important for Mustafa to help his family.”

This source told about the reasons for depriving Mr. Salimi of his activities at the prison workshop that, “a weapon was discovered in the prison workshop. Then he and several prisoners were transferred to Sanandaj just because of the nature of his case and charge while Mustafa worked in the site of Sandwich at that time and had no connection to the workshop. Now, when he returns, the prison authorities refused his request to work at the workshop, and they say that we ‘do not prefer you go there, where weapons were previously found.’”

According to the source, Mustafa Salimi is heavily dependent on the work in workshop of prison and their low salaries due to the financial situation of the family.

HRANA had previously reported that Mustafa Salimi had been moved from Saghez prison to Sanandaj Central Prison in June 2016. This has caused many problems for him and his family, including depression and an inappropriate psychological state of his 19-year-old son.

Mustafa Salimi, born on June 25, 1967, was a National Gas Company’s contractor and has been sentenced to death on charge of “Enmity against God”, “armed robbery” and “membership in a Kurdish opposition party” by judge Godini.
