Prisoner Hanged in Central Iran

Iran Human Rights –  A prisoner was hanged at Yazd Central Prison on the charge of participation in murder while the real murderer was released after winning the consent of the plaintiff.

According to a close source, on the morning of Tuesday October 24, a prisoner was executed at Yazd Central Prison.

The prisoner, identified as Ali Salari, was convicted of participation in murder during a street fight.

“After the quarrel, Ali Salari helped the murderer escape. That is why after they were arrested, Ali was sentenced to death on the charge of participation in murder during a street fight. The victim’s family gave their consent to the real murderer after a while but never forgave Ali and insisted on his execution,” said a close source to Iran Human Rights (IHR).

The execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the state-run media so far.

According to Iran Human Rights annual report on the death penalty, 142 of the 530 execution sentences in 2016 were implemented due to murder charges. There is a lack of a classification of murder by degree in Iran which results in issuing death sentence for any kind of murder regardless of intensity and intent.
