Iran Human Rights -Within two days in Qom Central Prison, four prisoners were hanged on drug related charges and three prisoners has their hands amputated on theft charges.
According to Younes Davoudi, the Deputy Prosecutor of the province of Qom, four prisoners were executed on drug related charges and at least three prisoners has announced the execution of four prisoners on drug related charges and at least three prisoners had their hands amputated on theft charges.
According to the state-run news agency IRIB, quoting Younes Davoudi, the four executions were carried out on Wednesday September 20 at Qom Central Prison. The Deputy Prosecutor also announced the amputation of the hands of three prisoners on Thursday September 21 at this prison. These amputations were the first to be carried out in Qom in years.
The execution of prisoners with drug related charges continues in Iran at the same time that the Iranian Parliament has approved a bill to stop drug related executions. The bill must be approved by Iran’s Guardian Council before it can be passed.
